Five security rules

We are committed to developing our security solutions, so that you can bank safely. You are, however, responsible for the security of your computer, smartphone or tablet. As part of this, we provide guidance and tips on keeping your accounts secure.
The five security rules are based on the Uniform Security Rules and the Checklist Safe Internet Banking of the Dutch Payments Association (Betaalvereniging).

The Payments Association has set up the www.veiligbankieren.nlOpens in a new window website in collaboration with the Dutch Banking Association (Nederlandse Vereniging van Banken). There you can read the current security rules.
How to protect your computer when banking online:
  1. Keep your security codes secret.
  2. Make sure that your debit card is never used by anyone else.
  3. Keep your computer updated and use an updated antivirus program.
  4. Check your bank account regularly.
  5. Report incidents directly to the bank and follow the bank’s instructions.

E-mail phishing

Phishing often happens when you are sent an email that appears to come from someone you have previously been in contact with. You are led to believe that the message comes from your bank, your supplier, tax authorities or someone else that you normally do business with.

You may be asked to provide information about your user name, password, account number or debit/credit card number.
